If you haven't been updated, the hiatus is off, my family can deal with their own crap without including me. I was gonna stay away for a few days to maintain the appearance of dignity but lol. Come on. This is me.

So, do this:

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes office supplies." I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. (Yes, even you people who I know really well.) Then post this in your own journal. In return, ask me anything you'd like to know about me and I'll give you an answer.

That Catcher in the Rye quote at the top of your layout has always intrigued me. Is there anything that has toppped the Bradley James lie in terms of lulz?

I have over 500 books on my bookcases. I have read them all. Many several times over *g*

For you: um, idk :P
just tell me something random about you XD

500 books, oh my! Can you pick your all time favourite?

I used to be a big reader. In primary school, I'd check out at least seven books each week and I'd lose myself in their tales. But in high school I stopped reading so much and now I find it really hard to sit still and read for hours like I used to. I blame the Internet and its shiny, shiny lights!

um...no.
I really really can't! It's too hard! :P

I don't think there's ever been a time since I was about 7 that I haven't been reading a book. *g*

My name is Kelsey and I like office supplies. I... guess you've only known me as plumora, but my first LJ account was [livejournal.com profile] penguingeek. I changed because I registered that name when I was 12 and it's lame. (Also: it is based on something I said to my friend when we were talking about how PoA was possibly going to be rated PG-13. I joked that "PG" stood for "penguin geeks." Yeah IDK.)

Umm, I'm just going to restate some stuff I've said in my journal that you may already know. I'm an atheist and bisexual but no one I know IRL knows either of these things. I've been a vegetarian for... 5 years now, I think, but I do a pretty bad job of it. (I don't, like, have a love affair with tofu or soy or anything.)

I do a terrible job at making decisions/having my own opinion, and I often look to other people and mirror what they do/say. However, having recently figured out how I identify (as stated in the previous paragraph), I'm trying to become more of myself and figure out who I am. I have a 13-year-old brother. He's annoying. :P

In return, I have two (!) questions for you. 1. How long have you been on LJ? & 2. What is your favorite season?

Date: 2010-07-17 10:09 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kylezy.livejournal.com
I'm gonna call you penguin geek from now on, that's just the way it goes xD

I don't think I knew you were a vegetarian, good for you! Was it a choice you made for your health or for a moral stand?

Sibling relationships have always interested me as I'm an only child, so, apart from the fact you find him annoying, do you guys get along okay?

I've been on this LJ since 2006 but I too have an old LJ account, long purged by now. Skadi was my name, after the Norse goddess. I guess I probably had it for a year or two, so that makes my LJ usage approximately six years long. Oh lord.

And Winter is my favourite season because I'd rather shiver than sweat.

Welllll, one of my friends wanted to be a vegetarian and so she and I did it together (although she isn't one anymore), but for weeks before that I had just been disgusted at meat, plus the obvious moral reasons. It was not for my health, really; in fact, I think it probably is the cause of certain problems, but it would take a lot to get me to eat meat again.

My brother and I used to fight all the time, physically. Thinking back on it, it was pretty bad! Mostly anymore it's just, he bothers me, I nag at him, and though he's annoying most of the time he can be sweet, too. It seems like when we were both younger we spent a lot of time arguing, but now we can actually TALK about stuff, joke around, etc. I don't know how to explain it. (And I feel like I will get all mushy if I try... :P)

LOL aww <3 :D I think I'd like to go back to thinking boys were yucky now though, life was sure a lot less complicated back them, dumb as I was. Ignorance really is bliss :P

Wow, Don't Panic? Nice. I thought I might've asked this question to you in the past, but guess I haven't, because I got surprising answers. I think I'm gonna listen to Spies now, I started loving that song because of you only :D

Another one. Gnaw. xD

If Windows 7 was a person, I'd totally have sex with them.
My favourite pokemon are Poliwag, Snorunt and Gengar - in that order.
I am obsessed with music tags. I hate it when music, especially on my iPod, is not tagged correctly. This drives me mad, seriously. I also need the album cover to show up, because the grey/white musical note thingy is ugly.

Question for you...
What was your childhood hero? :D

Knowing very little about it, what's so sexy about 7?
Gengar was totally fierce!
I am with you on this! Recently all my music got deleted off my ipod, so as I'm putting it all back on, I'm labelling everything correctly *pets pretty album covers*

I thought Bambi was the coolest hero ever from ages 3-6 xD

I never had much love for Disney. XD

I can never think of anything interesting for these, so:

I'm a huge music nerd - I have somewhere in the region of 30,000 records and I'm banned from my local pop quiz for excessive winning, I named my cats after The White Stripes, I work as a copywriter, and I grow tomatoes in my office.

Date: 2010-07-17 10:30 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kylezy.livejournal.com
Holy mackerel, 30000! Can you pick a favourite? And why do you grow tomatoes in your office?

Date: 2010-07-17 11:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] junkshop-disco.livejournal.com
My official favourite record of all time is The Buzzcocks, Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone That You Shouldn't've) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bif2q_Zo3-4), because that was the first record that made me go OMG I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO OWN THAT, so it's the one that started it all, really, and it still makes me smile every time I listen to it (and is very applicable to my life). But I have an iTunes playlist with my favourite 250 tracks on, and choosing between them is pretty much like trying to pick a limb - I need them all, in different ways, lol.

I started growing veg this year because I wanted a cheap hobby that involved fresh air and I had a spare patch in the garden - and then the weather was rubbish, so I ended up with tomatoes all over the place, and the ones in my office are doing the best, so they stayed. It's kind of nice when I get to my desk in the morning to see if I have any new ones :D.

I got a vibrator for my 18th birthday, very classy.

I was 16 when I saw the movie 'the Green Mile' and loved it, and a few days later I randomly looked through some of my parent's old books and I found 'The Green Mile' in its original 6-book-format that it was published in first. Well, all six are mine now, and I don't think my parents missed them, but I love them.

random enough?

Date: 2010-07-17 10:33 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kylezy.livejournal.com
Very random, thank you xD

I could never bring myself to watch that film, knowing how sad it is!

And lol, was the vibrator a prank gift from your friends or are your parents just reeeeally open-minded?

Date: 2010-07-17 09:14 pm (UTC)

the book is even sadder, but also so much better (not that the movie is bad).

it was a rather genuine gift from my friends. they wanted to do me a favour^^.

the majority of my dreams tend to be lucid dreams, so i almost always am aware of the fact that i'm dreaming, unless it's a nightmare. for the past year, after suggesting we go to an aquarium last summer, all of my nightmares have involved aquariums. in the past few weeks i have been having a lot of dreams where i take up smoking, although i have never smoked in my life, but it's gotten me interested in trying.

-Ewww, although I sweat quite easily too!

Ah, my most favorite shop in the whole wide world is Barnes and Noble (especially those with a Starbucks attached)...I end up spending hours in the store just reading and sipping my green tea frappucino...

Second favorite store: Office Depot, because I love office/school supplies...I get ridiculously excited about them!

Something that's not quite a secret, but kind of interesting...my parents are looking to make an arranged marriage for me (with my permission), so the whole family is out searching for suitable boys right now...

Date: 2010-07-17 10:44 am (UTC)

Ooh, an arranged marriage, that's fascinating! Is that a part of your culture or a family tradition or ___ ?

Date: 2010-07-17 04:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] deerang2002.livejournal.com
It's a part of the family culture and a family tradition (I'm an Indian, from the southern part of India, where it's more common)...it was something that I had to think about very carefully, but since the way an arranged marriage is done has changed quite a bit from 25 years ago (when my parents got married), I decided to agree to it. It's kind of like dating, except that the boy's been vetted by my whole family beforehand..and his family will have done some research on me and my family...

My first obsession was with the boy band New Kids on the Block when I was around 11-14 years old. For those few years, everything in my world revolved around those five guys.

My second obsession was with Disney's Lion King. That one started when I was 15... I think.

Now I'm obsessed with vampires and wizards with the occasional dragon thrown into the mix as well.

Also, I like to crochet and knit, you will most likely see how much I like to do this once the weather starts to cool off here.

Ha, NKOTB, that's cute!

I loved Lion King too! I could never watch the part when Mufasa dies though :(

I recently tried to learn to crochet, but failed miserably. Where/when/why did you learn to do it?

Date: 2010-07-18 10:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] saphira-ll.livejournal.com
My mom used to crochet a lot when I was little, she tried to teach me several times when I was a kid, but I never had the attention span. Years later, when my best friend's sister was pregnant with her second kid, I got it in my head that I wanted to make her a baby blanket. My mom helped me with it a little, but it still came out a bit lopsided.

A few months later, my best friend found out she was pregnant and since I had gotten a little more experience, I decided to do a blanket that was a little more challenging... I ended up not finishing it until her son was a year old... oops.

After that, I didn't do any more crocheting for many many years. When my mom died, she had a crapload of yarn stored here in the basement. I thought of taking up crocheting again, but couldn't stay focused on it. Fast foreword a few years to 2008. When my grandpa passed away, granny had planned on selling the house so we were busy cleaning and getting rid things we never used. When we came across my moms old yarn stash, I really didn't expect to need any of it. I kept a few skeins and gave the rest to my best friend's sister (whom you will normally see me refer to as my sister whenever I mention her). Of course, this is when I would discover how peaceful crocheting could be. I found that I didn't have to think so much about all the people I'd lost in such a short span of time. Crocheting and now knitting, have become a sort of saving grace for me... or maybe a better way to put it would be that they are like Prozac to me. An, "I knit and crochet so I don't kill people," kinda thing.

It's summer and sweltering hot here now, so I haven't been able to break out the needles and hooks for a while, but I'm sure when the weather starts to cool down, I'll be back jumping back on the crafty train. Besides, my Merlin doll still needs his prat of a prince. ;-)
