Lord of the Rings, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, American Beauty, Fight Club, The Matrix, It Happened One Night, Amelie, The Princess Bride, Evolution, Zoolander, Sweeney Todd, Secretary, The Royal Tenenbaums, Dogma, Frida, Across the Universe, Some Like It Hot, Jurassic Park, Calamity Jane, Grease, Hamlet 2.

Probably the Lord of the Rings films? I went into The Fellowship of the Ring annoyed by how much publicity the franchise was receiving and wondering what the big fuss was. I came out in awe and never as glad to be wrong with my preconceived notions. The actors were all fantastic (I've never loved a cast as much, although Merlin does come close), the cinematography was outstanding and the world they presented was enthralling. Plus, I'd only ever really lurked in the HP fandom before, so LotR was probably my first real foray into what it was like to be a fan and have other people around to interact, squee and anticipate with. There's a certain added fondness that comes just from introducing me to the world of fandom.

Plus, it introduced me to joy that is boytouching, something for which I will be eternally grateful for. Not that I hadn't looked at stuff before, but well, how can you top this:

The Lord of the Rings fandom is rife with pictures like that. The cast clearly loved and respected each other and had no qualms with kissing or cuddling. If Bradley or Colin behaved like this (http://www.malbela.com/hobbitsareveryverygay/2.htm) I think our fandom would explode.

Or twins separated at birth! The evil King was pissed off he couldn't produce a male heir, so after we were born, he killed our mother (with arsenic, the bastard), then got his brother to take us into the woods to kill us because there was no way he was going to let some Australians rule his kingdom (we were just born that way though, we can't help it). Now, the brother was a bit of a wimp, so not having the guts to slit our throats, he put us into two separate reed baskets and let us float away, reckoning that eventually we'd sink and drown. But whether by sheer luck, or divine helping hands, our baskets didn't sink and when we reached a split in the river, you floated to the right, and I the left. Our respective families found us and raised us and now we wait for the day when we are united again. When we finally are, we will have sweet-as super powers and can possibly combine to make Captain Planet.
