Long-Forgotten Fairytale - the Magnetic Fields

When My Boy Walks Down the Street - the Magnetic Fields
My current love, The Magnetic Fields are an alternative band led by Stephin Merritt. In 1999, the album 69 Love Songs was released. This three-volume concept album comprises of 69 love songs, all written Stephin, although he says the album is "...not remotely an album about love. It's an album about love songs, which are very far away from anything to do with love." It also features a vast array of musical stylings. The band are generally classified as alternative synth-pop but check out the bands/singers they've been compared to. I couldn't pick my favourite, so I thought I'd give you two random ones.

Until a few months ago, I hadn't heard of them either! Age has nothing to do with it, they're indie bands, nobody is supposed to have heard of them :D

I know you probably didn't take any, but consider taking When My Boy Walks Down the Street - the Magnetic Fields. Just to try something different.

Thanks for the suggestion, I downloaded it to my computer and I'll let you know what I think of it. It's about 10:15pm right now and my sister, her husband and the two kids are sleeping so I don't want to turn it on right now and wake them.

Thank you, I do hope you enjoy it. I'm trying to pimp The Magnetic Fields as much as they can, I think they're awesome.

I finally got to listen to it. It's reminds me a lot of the 60's British invasion type bands. The lyrics were pretty different though weren't they? Honestly, nothing I'd probably go out and buy but they were quite good. Thanks for letting me listen to something I may not have give a chance before!

And ohhh, how cute - Pam & Jim...LOVE THEM!!!!

Thanks for taking the time to listen to them :D Honestly I could rec a few other songs by them and you wouldn't guess it was the same band. Like for instance the other one I posted is very synth pop, kinda sounds like Joy Division or New Order. But I won't, I'm just glad you listened!

And I love them too! Not quite as cute as the original Office (UK) pair, Tim and Dawn, but still, adorable!

Of course I'll trying anything that someone personally recommends for me. And I'll be honest about what I think. But if they (or you) take the time to suggest something then you must have a good feeling about it. Emma suggested Keane when I never even heard them before, now I've purchase a 2nd CD of there's and have seen them in concert so you just never know...thanks again :)

(btw: I've never see the UK version of The Office)
