Another year, another birthday.

I mostly got cash, which is unusual because my family tend not to trust that I'll buy myself something useful. What I really wanted was this but alas. I'll just have to buy if for myself because it is the coolest thing ever and I possibly can't live without it.

The best part of yesterday was spending some birthday money because buying new things makes me unreasonably happy. I got myself some clothes, underwear, season 4 of The Office and season 1 of Pushing Daisies, which came with a bonus book of, I dunno, 7 pie recipes? That works out well because I got a tart tin from Mum. Can't wait to try the peach cobbler!

The other upside to my birthday was getting a new Merlin episode. Hip hip hooray for time differences! I've heard mixed reviews about this one, but I actually liked it. LOL ARTHUR'S FACE AS UTHER GUSHES PRAISE ONTO THE TROLL LADY! Well played Bradley James, well played.

Lolziest part

I would think it takes balls for a beautiful woman to deliberately make this face?

I love you Colin Morgan but OMGWTFMUMMYITSCARESME

Gratuitous castle shot

(All caps by [livejournal.com profile] _becca84_)

Finally, songs I'm digging at the moment:

Entroubled - Roses Kings Castles

Pot Kettle Black - Tilly & the Wall (From the Whip It soundtrack which I thoroughly recommend. I wouldn't consider it my usual type of music [apart from Jens Lekman <3] but it's FUN and even if you're a music snob, I don't think you can deny the collection of songs achieve their purpose of getting you pumped up.)

Love During Wartime - the Main Drag

Slow Life - Grizzly Bear

Whole-season DVDs are quite expensive. Why would you want to spend your precious birthday money buying those when you can easily download rips off the internet? :P

Actually I know the answer the that. It's just difficult to put into words :P

How much would you rate yourself out of 10 as a cook?

I only buy dvds which I believe I don't want to live without. So, as you can imagine, I don't end up buying them very often. These two were Very Important though! Plus, it's comfier to sit out in the lounge chairs, watching the big screen, than stuffed in the study looking at the comp screen!

I dunno. I don't rate myself at all because I don't consider myself a 'cook'. I follow recipes and by that logic, any idiot can do it. Anything new I create comes from familiarity, not skill.

That knife holder is the coolest thing ever. XD

Also, pie recipes! Yum.

Re: Merlin, ok -

1. ARTHUR'S FACE. I like to imagine that as soon as both he and Morgana left, they started giggling and pretending to vomit about Uther wooing someone.
2. MERLIN PRESSING HIS LIPS TOGETHER = CUTE. I DIED. AND THEN WATCHED THAT PART AGAIN.

...it probably doesn't need to be said that I'll be taking some of that music, later. :3

1. AWW, yes, this!
2. ME TOO!

Did you like the Merlin episode as a whole?

Enjoy them if you take any, love! And if you're ever looking for random music to download, here's (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=4fcd3667c12fee08d2db6fb9a8902bda) my mediafire folder. It's pretty much a lucky dip with what genre of music you're gonna get but you might find something you like? OR NOT.

I actually really did like this episode! I know I saw some reviews - blah blah, I know that's not a very good thing to say since I don't conduct polls about the episodes, and my knowledge comes from what I read at [livejournal.com profile] merlin_us's episode reaction post, BUT. Maybe I was just blinded by the acting of our two guest stars, but I did like it. However, I thought some of the characterization was odd; the moment where Merlin complained to Gaius about his workload and Gaius told him to suck it up reminded me of what occurred in "The Once and Future Queen," and Uther doubting Gaius reminded me of "A Remedy to Cure All Ills" - I think I was the only one, though, who thought the characterization kind of took a step backward. D: My reaction is here (http://community.livejournal.com/merlin_us/50065.html?thread=590225#t590225). I also thought the idea of Uther becoming so smitten with someone OTHER THAN Igraine and Arthur and Morgana not raising any questions about it was...strange. IDEK.

WAY TO WORDY FOR YOUR QUESTION, I KNOW.

From: [identity profile] kylezy.livejournal.com
NONSENSE, THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TOO WORDY WHEN IT COMES TO MERLIN DISCUSSION!

Especially when I happen to agree with you on everything ;) Good spotting with the 1898 thing! You're so observant! It looks like pencil to me, the kind workmen use when they write measurements but IDK. Maybe Merlin likes to keep track of where Arthur has shagged him and that's the 1898th spot?

Date: 2009-10-27 03:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] plumora.livejournal.com
I thought 1898 must have to do with some important date for Pierrefonds or something, IDK APPARENTLY NOT. Oh wells.

Maybe Merlin likes to keep track of where Arthur has shagged him and that's the 1898th spot?
THIS MADE ME GRIN RIDICULOUSLY, AND I AM SUPPOSED TO BE WRITING AN ORAL PRESENTATION. I have no appropriate (coherent) response to that comment FLAIL.

Also I have a strange feeling that fic must be written for it. That's just the inherent need for distraction talking, though.

Date: 2009-10-27 04:12 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kylezy.livejournal.com
MAYBE IT DOES, WTF DO I KNOW (hint: not much)?

My fic senses are tingling too, it must be written! Distraction is just your brain's way of telling you there's more important things to do*, like writing a Merlin/Arthur fanfic instead of, say, finishing a presentation, remember this!

Date: 2009-10-27 04:22 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] plumora.livejournal.com
Dude, I am making facts up as I go. "Why YES, there is a direct correlation between GPA and family income!" Actually, sadly not, but when I can't find a legitimate source for such facts (OH INTERNET HOW YOU FAIL ME), I just kind of slip it in subtly, not directly stated but implied. Obvs I am very tactical there, but nowhere else.

I believe the most successful people have always written slashy fanfic when they "should" have been doing something more important. No examples come to mind, but what does that prove?

(I have learned so much in the past X number of minutes, one of those things being that my brain doesn't operate once the sun goes down.)

I believe the lightbulb was delayed for that very reason. Edison was too busy writing a rather wordy AU, featuring "schoolteacher" George Westinghouse and "student" Henry Ford (rated PG-13 because NC-17 was too ungentlemanly to write, OBVIOUSLY).

Date: 2009-10-27 04:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] plumora.livejournal.com
...I was thinking of Thomas Edison when I was writing my comment (brain, is that you?). Is it sad that we can't think of other successful people in the entire history of mankind? Or maybe it's just that ~inventing stuff~ is such a turn on. And that all great things (the light bulb, the court of Camelot in Arthur's reign, etc. etc.) are borne of teh gay.

("By Jove, writing pr0n generates enough electricity in here for my light bulb! I'll be!" OH GOD.)

Haha, NC-17 of Edison's time would be so thick (...no, not another pun) that it would hardly be recognizable as NC-17, anyway.

Date: 2009-10-27 05:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kylezy.livejournal.com
No, what's sad is that I did research into my joke to find out who Edison's friends were *sigh*

HA, omg, yes, that's exactly how the lightbulb was born. Genius!

And how do you reckon the porn would go back then? His suspenders snapped against his skin sensuously and gently, Henry lifted his trousers so the barest hint of ankle was shown. George's hands left his suspenders to firmly grip his cock and he motherfucking JIZZED ALL OVER THE PLACE.

No, something feels a little off there...

From: [identity profile] plumora.livejournal.com
I feel dirty just reading that. Which I shouldn't, considering.

Henry lifted his trousers so the barest hint of ankle was shown.

There would probably be some weird cryptic dialogue here and gasping and whatnot. I would provide more but sadly, I do not know much about Edison's friends myself. D: Maybe they had been discussing electrical currents just prior, and Westinghouse had decided he needed to give Ford some practical demonstrations.

George touched Henry's ankle gently, and Henry gasped.

"Can you feel the currents?" George asked, sliding his own suspenders off.

"Yes," Henry sighed. "Do they work elsewhere on the human body?"

George couldn't resist the look of PURE LUST in Henry's eyes.

etc. etc.

Have you seen pictures of them all? It makes you feel dirtier :(

Also, you are made of win. If there wasn't porn of them before, you have just created some, thus Rule 34 (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Rule_34) wins again.

I have seen no pictures. In fact, now I'm not sure I want to. D:

LOL. That rule is amazing, and so, so true. (But I'm pretty sure you were the one who started it.)

If we start saying it, it will for sure catch on. Expect to see it on T.V. in the next couple of months.
