WHY OH WHY IS THERE NOT A MERLIN CRICKET FIC? I will bitch about this forever until there is one, so you may as well just write it for me and save yourself some Australian whining. JUST SAYING.

Congratulations to everyone on my flist who completed their Big Bang this year, by the way, what an achievement! (I'm wildly jealous of your words and I hate you all ♥) I haven't read them all yet but I really loved fuzzytomato02's Fractured Fairytale and dayari's The Ivy Crown, which is a whopping 251k. I spent the better portion of 24 hours engrossed in this one and then proceeded to wander about the house, lost and wailing: 'BUT WHAT DO I DO WITH MY LIFE NOW?'.

Who else is getting really antsy for s4? I swear this break seems like the longest ever. Did you know last year at this time we only had one more week to wait? ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE ME CRY, BBC? ARE YOU?


Moving on from Merlin now, I swear this is the last dessert for a while:





Irish Cream Cheesecake

175g chocolate chip cookies
55g butter, melted

225g plain (dark) chocolate
225g milk chocolate
55g golden caster sugar
250g cream cheese
425ml double cream, whipped
3tbsp Irish Cream liqueur

Line base and sides of a 20cm/8-inch springform tin with foil and brush sides with oil. Place the biscuits in a food processor and pulse to fine crumbs. Combine crumbs with the melted butter and press mixture into the base of the tin and chill in the refrigerator for one hour.

Melt plain and milk chocolate together, stir to combine and leave to cool. Place sugar and cream cheese in a large bowl and beat together until smooth, then fold in the whipped cream. Fold into the melted chocolate gently, then stir in the liqueur.

Spoon the filling over the chilled biscuit base and smooth the surface. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for two hours, or until quite firm. Transfer to serving plate and cut into small slices. Serve with a spoonful of crème fraiche and fresh fruit.

Verdict

Four-out-of-five. Not overwhelmingly omg best dessert ever, but yummy enough.

Haha, its so bizarre you mention the cricket fic because only the other I was wondering whether anybody ended up writing it for you.

So many big bang entries! I've read a few, but haven't got to the Ivy Crown yet just because its monumental and if I start now I wont stop til ridiculous o'clock in the morning lol.

I am getting soooooooo antsy for S4! It seems to be taking ages to come around, even filming seems to be taking longer this time. I am equal parts excited and shit scared for it though.

Om nom nom, except I dont like liqueur or moist cakes all that much...but it looks yummy! Haha.

TELL ME ABOUT THIS MERLIN CRICKET FIC YOU WANT. Not that I could write it, I don't think (I'm not that fluent in cricketing terms), I just want to revel in the wondrousness of the idea.

I haven't read either of those BBs - I was really good for a week or so, and was reading one or two a day, but I couldn't handle it by the time they were posted. That said, I do love dayari's fics and I've just read something fantastic that fuzzytomato02 posted earlier today, so I may persuade myself to take a gander on the morrow.

IF YOU EVER FEEL LIKE WRITING A CRICKET FIC, I WILL HELP THE FUCK OUT OF YOU WITH THE TERMINOLOGY/LINGO. JUST PUTTING THAT OUT THERE. I don't know exactly what kind of story I want but once, on a particular nerdy night, I came up with a team (http://kylezy.livejournal.com/110914.html). I think I really want Merlin being new to the team, and he and Arthur find themselves attracted to each other even though maybe they've never been into guys before (because I'm a sucker for sexual identity crises, hello delicious angst), and then of course they happen to be sharing a room for a long tour overseas and HELLO SEXUAL TENSION AND ACCIDENTALLY RUNNING INTO EACH OTHER SHOWERING AND GETTING DRESSED AND BONDING AND KISSING AND, WHAT, NO, WE CAN'T, I CAN'T, AND FALLING IN LOVE AND AWKWARD, HOT FIRST TIME SEX.

See, I know enough cricket lingo to get through a game without being too baffled, but it's all the little things about cricketing culture that would be wonderful and perfect in this kind of fic that I don't know well. Clearly I need to find me a cricketer-man to play with consult on these matters.

THAT SAID, your team is perfect. It aligns exactly with what I would do if I were to make the knights a cricket team. It was actually rather freaky reading it, I was sitting there thinking 'hmm, I'd make Leon opening batsman and Gwaine would be wicketkeeper, defin - HEY LOOK!'.

What if. WHAT IF. Like. Arthur has had a string of bad games (because he's too busy stressing about these new feelings for Merlin), barely getting any runs at all, and there's chatter from the press and opposing teams and his father is riding him and then he has an AWFUL game, gets a duck in both innings, and after that second one, comes into the change rooms all ragey and grr and beating up lockers with his bat. And, like, I've heard it's a courtesy amongst players that you don't go in the change rooms when someone comes back from batting, you let them get it out of their system and have a tantrum in peace. But then Merlin comes in because hello, he's Merlin. And Arthur's all grrr, go away, I have manpain you can't understand and Merlin's like *soothing words* and then Arthur pushes him into the wall and kisses him. And Merlin is like *blink* and Arthur is like GTFO and Merlin does.

And there's still two days of the test left and things are strained and awkward but there's also ~glances~ and somehow they win the test and then they're all celebrating a miraculous win in the pub and Arthur and Merlin can't stop staring at each other and then Merlin says he's off to bed early because he's been tapped to do press at 5am and Arthur waits five minutes and makes the same excuse and he opens the door to their room and somehow he's not surprised to see Merlin sitting at the end of the bed, waiting for him, and Merlin's somehow not surprised to see Arthur's followed him back.

And then sex of some description happens.

WHAT IF.

God, I can just imagine all of the angst and the awkward, desperate sexytimes that would ensue, because they wouldn't have done any of it before, they wouldn't have wanted to before, and the dirty, shameful wanking every fucking night which makes them unable to make eye-contact the next morning because if they look at each other they'll remember how hard the came just picturing one another naked, and then there'll be the inevitable frottage whenever they're alone and one of them just snaps and slams the other against the nearest available surface, and - and -
