In which nip bottles are horrendously fun

WHY OH WHY IS THERE NOT A MERLIN CRICKET FIC? I will bitch about this forever until there is one, so you may as well just write it for me and save yourself some Australian whining. JUST SAYING.

Congratulations to everyone on my flist who completed their Big Bang this year, by the way, what an achievement! (I'm wildly jealous of your words and I hate you all ♥) I haven't read them all yet but I really loved [livejournal.com profile] fuzzytomato02's Fractured Fairytale and [livejournal.com profile] dayari's The Ivy Crown, which is a whopping 251k. I spent the better portion of 24 hours engrossed in this one and then proceeded to wander about the house, lost and wailing: 'BUT WHAT DO I DO WITH MY LIFE NOW?'.

Who else is getting really antsy for s4? I swear this break seems like the longest ever. Did you know last year at this time we only had one more week to wait? ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE ME CRY, BBC? ARE YOU?

Moving on from Merlin now, I swear this is the last dessert for a while:

Irish Cream Cheesecake

175g chocolate chip cookies
55g butter, melted

225g plain (dark) chocolate
225g milk chocolate
55g golden caster sugar
250g cream cheese
425ml double cream, whipped
3tbsp Irish Cream liqueur

Line base and sides of a 20cm/8-inch springform tin with foil and brush sides with oil. Place the biscuits in a food processor and pulse to fine crumbs. Combine crumbs with the melted butter and press mixture into the base of the tin and chill in the refrigerator for one hour.

Melt plain and milk chocolate together, stir to combine and leave to cool. Place sugar and cream cheese in a large bowl and beat together until smooth, then fold in the whipped cream. Fold into the melted chocolate gently, then stir in the liqueur.

Spoon the filling over the chilled biscuit base and smooth the surface. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for two hours, or until quite firm. Transfer to serving plate and cut into small slices. Serve with a spoonful of crème fraiche and fresh fruit.

Verdict

Four-out-of-five. Not overwhelmingly omg best dessert ever, but yummy enough.
